Root Canal Therapy

Here is the first rule of Root Canal Therapy: root canal treatment doesn't cause pain — it relieves it. Saving a diseased or traumatized tooth sometimes involves the removal of the infected nerve tissue and blood vessels from the inside of the tooth. It is completely natural to be apprehensive about a procedure such as this, however, the dentists at the Greenwich Dental Group have performed root canals on thousands of satisfied patients, and we offer state-of-the-art technology to minimize any discomfort. Root Canal Therapy may take more than a single visit to complete. Once your tooth is free of infection, its canal is filled with an inert material and sealed. A new crown is then fitted to restore your tooth for a pain-free bite.

Laser Dentistry

Laser treatment of tissues allows for quick bloodless treatment that allows for faster healing and increased comfort over traditional methods. It increases the effectiveness of periodontal treatment. Lasers aid the effectiveness of bleaching materials and reduce the time it takes to get your teeth as bright as can be.

We Treat TMJ Disorders

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) occurs as a result of problems with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), two joints connecting the jawbone to the skull. Sometimes these joints can be damaged due to stress or trauma causing a sore jaw, headaches and ear pain. The treatment of TMD depends on your specific conditions and can be determined by our dentists. TMJ therapies can restore optimal bite and neuromuscular function with non-surgical temporomandibular joint therapy. These types of therapies include oral appliances that can reposition your jaw gently so that the muscles, bones, nerves, and teeth work in harmony, and guards that can protect your teeth from damage.

Digital Radiography and Panoramic Imaging

Aside from significantly lower radiation dosage, digital technology allows for image enhancements. This aids the trained eye in detecting decay while it is still small. The result is a longer lasting restoration. It also results in greater patient comfort and shorter treatment times. A complete evaluation of the oral cavity and associated sinuses is possible with a panoramic image. It is the standard of care and a valuable diagnostic tool that images the entire jaw and joints at once. The radiographs produced are also used to study orthodontic and periodontal conditions. They will disclose areas of disease concern and allow measurements for implant placement.

Fluoride Varnish

Fluoride Varnish is a 5% Sodium Fluoride which is painted on to the tooth surfaces. It’s been shown to reduce the risk of tooth decay by nearly 80%. We use Fluoride varnish for preventative treatment tooth decay and for pretreatment of root surfaces to control sensitivity during a periodic maintenance. Newer fluoride varnish can be administered and patient is able to eat or drink immediately. If your suffering from any sensitively notify one of our dentist or hygienist.

Oral Cancer Screening

Early detection of oral cancer is critical to the overall success of treatment. Oral cancer can be caused by infection with a virus called HPV and by tobacco and alcohol use. HPV-related oral cancer occurs most often in people who don’t smoke or drink very much. A different kind of oral cancer occurs in smokers who drink a lot. About 36,000 Americans get oral cancer every year. The OraRisk® HPV test can tell if you have an HPV infection in your mouth. If you do, you may have a greater risk of getting HPV-related oral cancer, which is often transmitted through oral-sexual contact. Like most cancers, it’s important to detect oral cancer early. If we know you have an HPV infection, we can watch you very closely for signs of oral cancer. We suggest you consider having this non-invasive test if you are a non-smoker and don’t drink a lot.

These tests are performed non-invasively using a saliva sample, which is collected in our office. The sample is easy and fast to collect. Simply swish a sterile saline (salt) solution in your mouth and spit it into a container. The sample is then sent out for testing. When the results come back, your dentist will initially read you your results are and what they mean to your oral health.
